Weekly Memo Sept 27


  1. MOJA MONDAY Our first Moja Monday of the year is taking place on Mon, Oct 1st! North Star parent, Maria Wentzel, will be in our lobby Monday morning to start your day with a complimentary cup of delicious Moja coffee. Bags will be available for purchase at a cost of $14/bag of which $6 will go towards the school! This is a fundraising effort for every classroom and profits are used to purchase new classroom materials which means a prepared and happy learning environment for everyone!
  2. SAVE THE DATE for our Family Glow Bowling Fundraiser on Sun, Nov 18th. Details to follow!
  3. ORANGE SHIRT DAY is tomorrow Fri, Sept 28th. Students may choose to wear something orange as First Nations, local governments, schools and communities come together in the spirit of reconciliation.
  4. INFANT & TODDLER CLASSES AVAILABLE Registration is now open for the Jan-Mar session. As well, we do still have a few spaces available in our Toddler classes for the Sep-Dec session. Please feel free to pass along our application form to friends and family.
  5. PICTURE DAY Reminder that Picture Day (individual and class) is Wed, Oct 3rd.
  6. OPEN HOUSE is scheduled for Wed, Oct 3rd from 4:00-6:30pm. This is a great opportunity for prospective families to tour the school, see inside the classrooms and meet the teachers! Please feel free to spread the word to friends and family… everyone is welcome!
  7. PARKING As parking can be a challenge, we would like to remind everyone to be mindful when parking at drop-off and pick-up. Please do not park illegally, at the end of the cul-du-sac, in a space that is not a designed parking spot or too close to/far away from another parked vehicle. Thank you!
  8. THANKSGIVING Reminder that school will not be in session on Mon, Oct 8th.


  1. NEW CASA PARENT PHONE CALLS are scheduled for Mon, Oct 1st to Fri, Oct 5th. This is an opportunity for parents of new Casa students to connect with their classroom teacher. Sign-up sheets are posted on the office bulletin board.

Extended-day Kindergarten

  1. EXTENDED-DAY PE The Extended-day students will play Sportball for PE next week.
  2. FOODIE KIDS is Wed, Oct 3rd for those families that ordered.
  3. HIGH TOUCH HIGH TECH The Extended-day students will participate in the “Get Buggy” workshop with a HTHT scientist on Fri, Oct 5th.


  1. LOWER ELEMENTARY PE The LE students will be taking fitness classes with the NSWC for PE next week.
  2. UPPER ELEMENTARY PE The UE students will play Sportball for PE next week.
  3. FOODIE KIDS is Wed, Oct 3rd for those families that ordered.
