  1. MOJA MONDAY Our first Moja Monday of the year will be held on Monday, October 5th! Maria Wentzel (North Star parent) will be in our lobby on the morning of Oct 5th to help start your day with a delicious cup of coffee. Moja coffee will also be available for purchase at that time. This is a fundraising effort that directly impacts your child’s classroom. Coffee bean sales = classroom materials and classroom materials = a prepared and happy learning environment.
  2. MENTORSHIP PROGRAM North Star’s Mentorship Program will begin again on Wednesday, September 30th. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to interact between classrooms.
  3. BOARD HOSTED PARENT SOCIAL Reminder for those that RSVP’d that the Parent Social is this Saturday, September 26th from 7:00-9:00 in the Sr. Lounge of the North Shore Winter Club. Have fun everyone!
  4. REPORTING A CHILD’S ILLNESS Please remember to advise the school via telephone before 8:00am if your child is going to be absent. If your child is ill please also include symptoms.
  5. USBORNE BOOK FAIR Don’t miss this opportunity to purchase wonderful high quality children’s books. The sale will take place on Wednesday, September 30th (11:00am-4:00pm) and Thursday, October 1st (8:00am-3:00pm).  If you would like to check out the books ahead of time or pre-order please go to Usborne Rep Becky’s website at http://www.usborneonline.ca/justducky. You can pre-order books by emailing Becky with the subject line “North Star Montessori”.
  6. MISSING BOOKS & VIDEOS Several books & videos were not returned at the end of last year. Please return all outstanding items so that they are available for other parents.

Infant & Toddler

  1. BABY WASH CLOTHS If you have any extra baby cloths in good condition please pass them along to Christie. They are used for handwashing before snack time. Thanks!
  2. SAVE THE DATE! If you are interested in individual photos of your child, a photographer will be here on Monday, November 23rd. Please check back for more information closer to the date!

Casa

  1. PICTURE DAY Mark your calendars for picture day coming up on Monday, October 5th!
  2. AM CASA PICK-UP Reminder that the Casa door opens for pick-up at 11:20am each day.
  3. NEW CASA PARENT PHONE CALLS Parent/Teacher phone calls for new Casa parents will take place from Monday, October 5th to Friday, October 9th. The sign-up sheet will be posted on the office bulletin board on Monday.
  4. EDUARDO’S VIDEOS A quick reminder that videos of Eduardo’s presentation “Because No One Was Born a Parent” can be checked out at the front desk. All copies are currently out but please see Jeanne if you would like to reserve one.

Extended Day Kindergarten

Elementary

  2. UPPER & LOWER ELEMENTARY FIELDTRIP The Upper & Lower Elementary students will be taking a fieldtrip to HR MacMillan Space Centre on Tuesday, September 29th. Please complete and submit the attached permission form on or before 8:30am Monday, September 28th.
  3. LOWER ELEMENTARY PE The LE students will be taking part in co-operative games for PE next week.
  4. UPPER ELEMENTARY PE The UE students will be taking part in co-operative games for PE next week.
  5. UPPER ELEMENTARY PHOTOS Please have your UE child bring in one picture of what they did over the summer for a classroom assignment.
  6. PARENT DISCOVERY EVENING Reminder of the upcoming Parent Education Evening for both Upper & Lower Elementary on Monday, September 28th. The topic is “Setting Goals & Accountability in the Elementary Environment” and the sign-up sheet is posted on the office bulletin board. Tomorrow is the last day to sign-up!
  7. FREE DRESS DAY Our next Free Dress Day is next Friday, September 25th. Students donate a minimum of $1.00 to their teacher upon entering the classroom first thing in the morning to wear their choice of clothing rather than the school uniform. Students must wear appropriate footwear, clothes must be in good repair and hats/gloves are not permitted to be worn inside the classroom.
