  1. PARENT TEACHER MEETINGS Reminder that parent/teacher meetings are tomorrow Fri, Nov 28th. Classes will not be in session. First term report cards will be distributed for K/Elementary. All students are required to wait in the ASC room during your parent teacher meeting – students will not be permitted to wait in the hallway or at the front office. Elementary children are encouraged to bring a book to read.
  2. CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING Please join us at Lynn Valley Village on Sun, Nov 30th from 4:30-5:30pm for the Christmas tree lighting ceremony. North Star is Tree 66.
  3. PRACTICUM STUDENTS Please welcome back Zahra Abdulla and Fiana Wu who will continue their practicum in the Sitka & Cypress classrooms from Dec 1-5.
  4. AID TO LIFE is now registering for January to June classes. This unique program offers parents the opportunity to learn alongside their child in a beautifully prepared Montessori environment. Parent-Infant classes (for children 2-15 months) run on Mondays and Parent-Toddler classes (for children 15 months-3 years) run Tuesdays through Fridays. Please see attached flyer for more information and feel free to pass on to friends and family! Christie Stanford (the Head Facilitator) is always available to chat if you would like more specific information about this program.
  5. FUNDRAISING CORNER Curling Event Thank you to everyone who made it to our 2nd Annual Curling Event! Thank you also to those who generously donated silent auction items. We are thrilled to announce that we raised $5,670. Moja Coffee Sale Our next initiative is our Moja Coffee Sale! You will notice that we have placed 3 order forms in your family pocket. We are encouraging you to sell Moja Coffee to friends, family etc. $6.00 from every bag will go directly back into North Star. If you sell a full case (which consists of only 6 bags) you will receive a 10% discount. Our goal is 55 cases which will raise almost $2,000 for our school!
  6. MOJA MONDAY For those of you that can’t wait for the coffee sale and need someting to tide you over, don’t worry…we are still holding our monthly Moja Monday on Mon, Dec 1st so that you are able to enjoy your Moja in the meantime!
  7. EARLY PICK-UP A reminder to please advise the classroom teacher first thing in the morning if you are planning to pick-up your child early so that they are able to plan.

Casa

  1. CASA CHILD-PARENT NIGHT is scheduled for Mon, Dec 8th from 6:00-7:30pm. This is your opportunity to explore the classroom with your child and see some of the things that he/she is working on. Please remember that sometimes the excitement can be overwhelming for the younger children so please be understanding if your child draws a blank when you are in the classroom and encourage him/her to continue to show you some of the materials that they work on. Sign-up sheets are posted on the office bulletin board.

Kindergarten

  1. MMUN MOVIE NIGHT Reminder for those that signed up that the Upper Elementary are hosting the MMUN Movie Night Fundraiser tonight from 3:30-5:15pm.

  3. AFTER SCHOOL LEGO BRICKS Due to insufficient registration numbers the next session of our Lego Bricks program will not be moving forward. If you have registered and paid, please see Jeanne for a refund.
  4. UPPER ELEMENTARY PARENT DISCOVERY on Promoting Independence and Responsibility from Oct 28th has been re-scheduled for Tues, Dec 2nd from 6:30-7:30pm. Please sign up on the sheet posted on the office bulletin board.
  5. ELEMENTARY PARENT-CHILD NIGHT is scheduled for Tues, Dec 9th from 6:00-7:30. Please sign-up on the sheet posted on the office bulletin board.
  6. FREE DRESS DAY Our next Free Dress Day is next Fri, Dec 5th. This year students may donate a minimum of $1.00 to their teacher upon entering the classroom first thing in the morning to wear their choice of clothing rather than the school uniform. We will be donating proceeds to DEBRA as well as the ALS Foundation. Please keep in mind that students must wear appropriate footwear, clothes must be in good repair and hats are not permitted to be worn inside the classroom.
