  1. VOLUNTEER THANK YOU In the most recent Message from Head of School we thanked individuals for their contributions to our school. We would also like to thank the Buhrman family for their many Costco runs throughout the school year!
  2. CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL RACE Please come join us to walk/run in the RBC Children’s Hospital Race on Sun, June 4th. This is an event that’s fun for the WHOLE family! Event details and our North Star Montessori team can be found at http://www.bcchf.ca/events/event-calendar/rbc-race-for-the-kids/. Simply click on “Get Involved”, “Register” and “Join an Existing Team”. Select “North Star Montessori” – password Parent2016. Please contact Maria Wentzel if you have any questions.
  3. AFTER SCHOOL CARE Applications are now being accepted for the 2017-18 academic year. This includes students who will enter Extended-day Kindergarten next year. If you would like to register please complete and submit the attached application form to the front office. Spaces will be filled on a first come-first serve basis.
  4. SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS Reminder that the due date for Scholastic Book orders is 12:30pm tomorrow Fri, May 5th.
  5. OPEN HOUSE Our next Open House for prospective families is scheduled for Wed, May 17th from 4:00-7:00pm. Help spread the word! This a great opportunity to tour the school, see inside the classrooms, meet our teachers and ask questions!
  6. PRO D DAY Reminder that Fri, May 19th is a Pro D Day. School will not be in session.
  7. VICTORIA DAY Reminder that Mon, May 22nd is Victoria Day. School will not be in session.

Casa

  1. SUMMER TODDLER CLASSES (15-36 months) We are happy to announce that we will once again run a summer program for the month of July. This will be for Toddler children only. Classes will run Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00-10:30am and 11:00-12:30pm. Please note that one make-up class will be honoured during this time for any absences due to travel, etc. To register for the summer session, please submit the attached summer registration form (along with payment) to the front office.

Extended-day Kindergarten

  1. PHOTO PRINT SALE Photos from the Spring Performance will be on display in the Cedar Room Tues, May 9th from 3:00-3:30pm and Wed, May 10th from 8:00-8:30am. Photos will be available to purchase at a cost of 1/$10 or 2/$15 (per child). 
  2. EXTENDED-DAY PE The Extended-day students will continue with swimming on Tuesday and begin track & field with Lalena on Thursday next week.
  3. BIKING The Extended-day K students will be doing a couple of biking sessions for PE in June. Students will require a bicycle without training wheels and a properly fitted helmet. Don’t worry if your child isn’t riding without training wheels yet, they will be by the end of the first session. Permission form and waiver to follow.
  4. PIZZA DAYS Attached please find the order form for all remaining pizza days. Please note the deadline to submit your orders is Mon, May 8th. Spud order forms to follow next week!

Elementary

  3. LOWER ELEMENTARY BIKING The LE students will begin biking at the end of May. Please ensure that you have properly fitted helmet and your bike is tuned and in good working condition. Permission form and waiver to follow.
  4. UPPER ELEMENTARY PE The UE students will have track & field for PE next week.
  5. UE OUTDOOR SCHOOL The Upper Elementary students will be travelling to Camp Latona from Wed, May 31st to Fri, June 2nd. Please see the attached permission form, map, and packing list for further information. Permission forms and payment are due by Mon, May 15th.

  7. TRACK MEET VOLUNTEERS Calling all volunteers for the 3rd Annual Regional Montessori Track Meet on Thurs, May 25th! If you would like to volunteer please contact Jeanne with your name, available hours, job preference, if you are first aid certified and whether or not you have your t-shirt from last year. Thanks to all for helping make this a successful event again this year!
