All

  1. AID TO LIFE is now registering for January to June classes. This unique program offers parents the opportunity to learn alongside their child in a beautifully prepared Montessori environment. Parent-Infant classes (for children 2-15 months) run on Mondays and Parent-Toddler classes (for children 15 months-3 years) run Tuesdays through Fridays. Please see attached flyer for more information and feel free to pass on to friends and family! Christie Stanford (the Head Facilitator) is always available to chat if you would like more specific information about this program.
  2. FUNDRAISING CORNER Moja Coffee Sale Our Moja Coffee Sale is in full swing! We are encouraging you to sell Moja Coffee to friends, family etc. $6.00 from every bag will go directly back into North Star. If you sell a full case (which consists of only 6 bags) you will receive a 10% discount. Our goal is 55 cases which will raise almost $2,000 for our school! Deadline to submit your order is Wed, Dec 10th. Please make cheque payable to North Star Montessori and place in the envelope on the office bulletin board.
  3. EARLY PICK-UP A reminder to please advise the classroom teacher first thing in the morning if you are planning to pick-up your child early so that they are able to plan and there is minimal disruption to other students.

Casa

  1. CASA CHILD-PARENT NIGHT is scheduled for Mon, Dec 8th from 6:00-7:30pm. This is your opportunity to explore the classroom with your child and see some of the things that he/she is working on. Please remember that sometimes the excitement can be overwhelming for the younger children so please be understanding if your child draws a blank when you are in the classroom and encourage him/her to continue to show you some of the materials that they work on. Sign-up sheets are posted on the office bulletin board.
  2. HAND WASHING DEMONSTRATION Vancouver Coastal Health will be here on Thurs, Dec 11th to talk about how germs spread and the importance of hand washing. The presentation will include a proper hand washing demonstration.

Kindergarten

  1. REPORT CARDS Reminder to please return the signed “School Copy” of your child’s report card by the end of this week.
  2. HAND WASHING DEMONSTRATION Vancouver Coastal Health will be here on Thurs, Dec 11th to talk about how germs spread and the importance of hand washing. The presentation will include a proper hand washing demonstration.
  3. KINDERGARTEN PE The Kindergarten students will continue with skating for PE next week.

  5. MMUN HOLIDAY MOVIE NIGHT FUNDRAISER As part of their fundraising efforts for the MMUN the Upper Elementary students will be hosting a movie night on Fri, Dec 12th from 3:30-5:00pm. The movie being shown is The Polar Express and it is open to all students in K-Year 6. The cost is $10 which includes popcorn and a fruit cup. The sign-up sheet and payment envelope are posted on the office bulletin board. Deadline to sign-up is end of day Wed, Dec 10th.

Elementary

  2. ELEMENTARY FIELDTRIP The Lower Elementary students will be going on a fieldtrip to see the Seymour Dance production of The Nutcracker on Mon, Dec 8th. Please complete the attached permission form and return it to the front office on or before 8:30am Mon, Dec 8th.
  3. ELEMENTARY PE The Upper & Lower Elementary students will continue with skating for PE next week.
  4. AFTER SCHOOL LEGO BRICKS A reminder to please see Jeanne for a refund if you registered and paid for January’s cancelled session.

  7. FREE DRESS DAY Our next Free Dress Day is next Fri, Dec 12th. This year students may donate a minimum of $1.00 to their teacher upon entering the classroom first thing in the morning to wear their choice of clothing rather than the school uniform. We will be donating proceeds to DEBRA as well as the ALS Foundation. Please keep in mind that students must wear appropriate footwear, clothes must be in good repair and hats are not permitted to be worn inside the classroom.
