  1. FERRERO ROCHER & MOJA CHRISTMAS FUNDRAISER Reminder that the deadline to order chocolates & coffee is quickly approaching! An order form with details was placed in every family pocket (and there are extras at the front office). 100% of the chocolate purchase and $5.00 per bag of coffee will go directly to the school. Deadline for ordering is Fri, Dec 9th and delivery to the school will be Thurs, Dec 15th.
  2. GIFT BASKET RAFFLE The winner of our Ferrero Rocher & Moja Coffee Gift Basket will be drawn this afternoon. Good luck everyone!
  3. COMMUNITY BOARD We have set aside some space on our Parent Education Corner bulletin board to be used for community notices. This would include information regarding plays, community events, requests for childcare, selling or giving away gently used items etc.
  4. FIRST TERM REPORTS & PARENT CONFERENCES First term report cards will be distributed end of day today. Please return the signed “School Copy” to your classroom teacher at the Parent/Teacher Conference tomorrow Fri, Dec 2nd. Sign-up sheets for conference times are posted on the office bulletin board. Please note that school is not in session tomorrow. Childcare will be available in the After School Care room during your conference time for North Star Casa & Elementary students.
  5. ARTS & CRAFTS SALE The Upper Elementary students have been busy preparing for the Arts & Crafts Sale taking place in the Cedar Room next week from Dec 7-9th at drop-off and pick-up. Paintings, photography, mixed-media, pottery, jewellery, candles and cookie mix are a few of the items available. In addition, there will be a mini silent auction with items including a convection toaster oven, record player, food scale, carving set and Le Creuset skillet.
  6. WINTER BREAK Reminder that the last day of classes is Fri, Dec 16th (11:30am dismissal for ALL and no ASC). The last day of classes for PM Casa is Thurs, Dec 15th.

Casa

  1. CHILD-PARENT NIGHT The Casa Child-Parent Night is scheduled for Mon, Dec 12th. This is a great opportunity for parents to come into the classroom and students to show them what they’ve been working on. Timeslots will be available for either the 1st session (6:00-6:30pm) or the 2nd session (6:45-7:15pm). Sign-up sheets will be posted on the office bulletin board next week.
  2. PRACTICUM STUDENTS We welcome back our practicum students Amy Wang (Sitka) and Christina Liao (Cypress). Amy & Christina will be in the Casa classrooms from Mon, Dec 5th to Fri, Dec 9th.

Extended-day Kindergarten

  1. THEATRE FIELDTRIP The Extended-day K students will be taking a fieldtrip to Carousel Theater on Granville Island to see their production of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on Wed, Dec 7th. Please complete and submit the attached permission form on or before Mon, Dec 5th.
  2. EXTENDED-DAY KINDERGARTEN PE The Extended-day K students will have PE in-house on Tuesday and continue with rock climbing on Thursday next week.
  3. SKATING Just a quick heads up that Extended-day K & Elementary students will be skating for PE in January. They will need to bring their skates and bag (which should include a cloth to wipe skate blades), a helmet (that covers the forehead and is tight fitting), gloves and ski pants or warm clothes. Students will not be able to participate without a helmet and gloves.

  1. LOWER ELEMENTARY PE The Lower El students will continue with Legacy Martial Arts for PE next week.
  2. UPPER ELEMENTARY PE The Upper El students will have PE in-house Tuesday and continue with rock climbing on Thursday next week.
