MMUN Update

I can’t believe its November! Wow! We’ve been busy. It seems like only last week was the first day of school. The grades 6 and 7s have been working nonstop. I hope you have enjoyed our Friday Fundraisers, as much as we have enjoyed preparing them for you.  Thanks for your support. They will continue for the rest of the year.

While Fundraisers are fun, the thing that I’m really excited about is researching. Each school participating in the MMUN (Montessori Model United Nations) is in charge of a country. Our country is Egypt. Over the course of the year, the students will research that country. The students will be split into partners and each partner will sit on a council that that country sits on. (e.g.: human rights, agriculture, rights of the child etc.) One partner will write a position paper, and one partner will write and give a speech. (In case you were interested my council is agriculture.)

Right now in class, each student is responsible for a small question about a topic related to our country (economics, imports and exports, population etc.) We each have to write about paragraph.  We also are in charge of each writing a speech about what it means to be an individual and what a nation is, to help us with public speaking.

Thank you for reading this, I hope I’ve kept you well informed.
